Laugh for a Cause

There are many charities turning to laughter to generate positive attention and donations for their cause.

Comedy Cures® the foundation began by Saranne Rothberg has been spreading laughs through the Cancer community for many years. Look for an article with Saranne Rothberg in the upcoming THE COMIC BIBLE MAGAZINE. In the meantime, see the website for more information and learn how to get involved at www.comedycures.org

Of course, Gilda's Clubs named after famous comedian Gilda Radner, offer some comedy events throughout the year. Gilda's Club Northern New Jersey celebrates laughter for its cause during several events, including its long-running annual Laugh Off Competition chaired by funny lady Sunda Croonquist. And in Michigan, they have a week-log smile fest, LaughFest sponsored by the local Gilda's Club.

RX Laughter, a 501c3 nonprofit public charity founded in 1998, uses the healing power of laughter to help those with serious illnesses. They've also just begun a program with UCLA and Second City to help heal the effects of war with improv comedy. A new way to give to your favorite charity is through searching and shopping! Believe it or not, you can Get Involved with GoodSearch: it's an easy way to raise money for your favorite cause. Just start using Yahoo! powered GoodSearch.com as your search engine and they'll donate about a penny to your favorite cause every time you do a search! In addition, do all of your shopping through their online shopping mall, GoodShop.com, where you can shop at more than 2,600 top online retailers and a percentage of your purchases will go to the charity or school of your choice. You pay the same price as you normally would, but a donation goes to your cause! You can also enroll in the GoodDining program. Eat at over 10,000 participating restaurants nationwide and you can earn up to 6% of every dollar spent on the meal as a donation for your charity or school. Here's the web site — http://www.goodsearch.com/.

Always support your cause and remember, even if you cannot donate funds, laughter is the answer, please give someone a laugh today.
